I've kind of picked up this idea from Adam as I haven't heard from him and I think it would be a shame to let it drop.

I have contacted the club regarding an 'Official Welcoming' for Chris by us fans. They are very, very keen on the idea and wish to discuss and maybe even expand on the idea over the next few days.

I picked up on what someone else said on the other thread about maybe staging it before the Everton friendly and holding it on the Kop car park.

Once they have agreed to it I would imagine they will put details on the main site and so on.

So, keep your fingers crossed and as always I will keep you all up to date. In the meantime it's probably a good idea not to arrange anything 'unofficial' just incase it dilutes the official one.

Blacksmith mate - Could you make this sticky please ?

I don't do friendlies, any chance we can have it on the car park at Pride Park?

:blues:

ps Great idea dwarfy, if you get the nod tell the club to maximise the publicity. **thumbup

Likely to be less away fans than home fans going to the friendly I would ahve thought. Not sure how happy Derby would be about us having a party in their car park either

Although we could take anti Savage banners as well

There's gunna be fans that don't do away games who want to go and support Hughton. I wouldn't be happy if we didn't do it at St Andrews. KRO!!!!

I wouldn't worry too much as nothing has been decided only that they are very interested in the idea.

My guess is that it would happen at Stands but haven't a clue about the timing.

I'm a season ticket holder and spend enough money on that. I do away games when I can. So not better fans but better off. KRO!!!!

Because I fear for another Carling Cup celebration embarrassment I would urgently caution against it unless there is a guaranteed largish crowd.

Ordinarily the obvious and most meaningful opportunity is the Coventry home game on the second Saturday of the season, but events have overtaken this because there is the Everton friendly. As it is the first opportunity both to see the new football style Blues and, I expect, many new players I would envisage the gate to be far larger than it would have been otherwise.

So, keep your fingers crossed and as always I will keep you all up to date. In the meantime it's probably a good idea not to arrange anything 'unofficial' just incase it dilutes the official one.

Blacksmith mate - Could you make this sticky please ?
